6th class have been learning about the heart, how it functions and the incredible job it does 24 hours a day 365 days a year. We carried out some experiments to test the heart rate and were impressed at how our hearts work so hard to keep us alive. We were lucky then to get our hands on some sheep hearts to dissect. We were able to identify the 4 chambers and the main blood vessels leading into and out of the heart. It was interesting to see the heart in the flesh and helped everyone understand more clearly how the heart functions.
