Dear Parents/Guardians,
Well Storm Ali has certainly arrived with a bang causing the Ploughing Championships to be cancelled for today due to the severity of the winds!! Luckily for us, Kilmacanogue National School remained open with all the boys and girls working so very hard in spite of the raging winds outside and the electricity being shut down for a while! Well done everyone.
Congratulations to all our Junior Infants who attended Mass last Sunday in St. Mocheanóg’s Church, Kilmacanogue, for the Blessing of their School Bags. It was a really sweet ceremony. The date has been set for First Holy Communion 2019 which will take place on Saturday, May 18th. The date for Confirmation has yet to be formally approved.
Our Junior Infants celebrated ‘Independence Day’ last Monday, when they waved flags and posters as they entered the school by themselves while their parents/guardians waved from the side lines. The children are so good at coming in to the classroom now by themselves as well as leaving the school by themselves to be collected at the outside door by their parents/guardians.
Parents could I ask that you collect your children at their outside school door and not enter the school especially with buggies…..this is for Health and Safety reasons because other classes will be moving up and down the corridors during the school day. Thank you for your understanding in this regard. The Junior Infants’ Parents’ meeting will take place tonight, Wednesday September 19th at 8pm in the school hall. Looking forward to seeing you there.
A reminder that John Lonergan, former Governor of Mountjoy Prison, will be coming to Kilmacanogue National School on October 4th at 7:30pm to give a talk on ‘The Rewards and Challenges involved in Parenting in 2018’. If you have any questions which you would like put to John about this topic, please feel free to drop them in to the secretary’s office and we shall present them to him.
Well done to everyone who took part in our Roald Dahl Day…..you all looked amazing. There were witches, wizards, Oompa Loompas, Willy Wonkas, Sophies, Matildas, BFGs walking around the school all day!! Miss Quiney dressed up as an amazing Roly Poly Bird in a most wonderfully coloured costume!! Thanks to Miss Clara Lynch who organised this and to Mr Padraig Hurley who will be putting the photos onto the school website.
And now for Miss Murray’s joke……What do you call a pig that knows karate? ………..A pork chop!!!
