KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL

WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER SEPTEMBER 16th 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians and of course Boys and Girls,

We are now into our 3rd week back to school and I must admit that the children are all doing really wonderfully well

The weather has been gorgeous and of course the children are out and about a lot during the day, hopefully this weather will last until Christmas!!

Well done also to all the children remembering to walk up to school and into their classes from 9:10am and not before.

It is very hard to remember everything but if we maintain our social distance of 2 metres and wash and sanitise our hands as well as for adults to wear their face masks when we are nearer to one another than 2 metres, everything will be as good as we can make it and all will be well.

The school’s Code of Behaviour is being updated at the moment to also include the recent turn of events regarding COVID-19. Also, the new Admission Policy will be uploaded onto the school website in the next day or so. Please be on the look out for these important policies which are designed to ensure the health and safety and well-being of everyone in the school, especially the health and safety of the children.

You might have noticed that there are some lovely play activity designs on the new tarmac area beside the Junior Infant Class. These were painted on Saturday last, and the children are having a great time playing with their friends on them. I have lots more surprise up my sleeves for the children happening over the next few weeks and months!!

Also, 5th Class have been enjoying the use of our new magnificent, state of the art moveable interactive SMART board which arrived yesterday!! It does everything apart from paying the mortgage!!!

Our former 6th Class students will be celebrating their Confirmation this coming Saturday and Sunday in St Mochonog’s Church, Kilmacanogue. It was very hard for them to have the ceremony deferred on March 12th just the day before they were due to celebrate it. I am sure that they will have a lovely day this coming weekend and we wish them all the very best.

The HSE have sent out their Immunisation Pack for Junior Infants which have been sent home with the children today. Please could these be signed and returned to the school as soon as possible, the letter in the pack gives all the information.

Gentle reminder that if your child has any multiple of these symptoms: a sore throat, temperature, runny nose, shortness of breath, then please keep them at home and phone your GP to get the all clear before sending them back to school. Hopefully the HSE information emailed by me a few days ago is of help to you all.

An Insurance letter has been sent home with every child in the school from Brennan’s Insurance. This is incredibly worthwhile having, as it covers your child for 24 hours. Please complete the form and send it and the €10 back into school by Friday 24th September.

And now for Miss Murray’s joke!!

Why couldn’t the teddy bear eat his dessert?……..Because he was stuffed!!!
