KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL

WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER MARCH 25th 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians and of course Boys and Girls,

WE LOVE THE BOYS AND GIRLS OF KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL

How are you all keeping? We miss each and everyone of you here in Kilmacanogue National School….the place is very QUIET!

The daffodils are blooming beautifully around the school grounds and Kevin, our caretaker, has been trimming the hedges and fields so that they will be all ready for you to play in when you come back to school.

As you are all aware now, the schools will not be re-opening until April 20th. But don’t worry about that, boys and girls, just enjoy being with your family and helping around the house and the garden as well as trying to do the work which your teachers have been sending to you. Remember, DO NOT BE UNDER PRESSURE to do all the work, just do the best you can.

I am absolutely delighted to let you all know that there is an extra facility on our school website to help everyone. Log onto www.kilmacschool.ie and then click the button at the top HOME LEARNING. Then you will see all the great educational websites and links which the teachers have collected for you. Thanks to Ms Quiney who gathered them all into one area called Padlet and thanks also to Charlie O’Connor’s Dad, Séan, for uploading the details onto our school website. Charlie was one of our star pupils here in Kilmacanogue until his last year in 6th 2019. Thanks so much Séan.

You will see that the links are all grouped into Subject Areas…..English, Maths Gaeilge PE etc. To see what is in each subject area, simply move up and down with the cursor, and then to see all the various subject areas, simply scroll to the bottom of the page and move the cursor from right to left. This is a great facility and I would srtrongly encourage you to use the links because there is only so much that we, as teachers, will be able to do ‘Distant Learning’

From next Monday, March 30th, the teachers will be availing of the Class Dojo platform for Junior up to 1st class, and the See Saw platform for 2nd up to 6th class. These will be more interactive and will give a chance to the teachers to send resources and to correct work that is done, depending on the class level.

It is important that if anyone would like to contact a teacher that they do so through the school email address, kilmacanoguens@gmail.com just as they would if school was open normally. I will keep the teachers updated and informed daily, be assured of that. So please do feel free to send messages and photograhs to your teacher about what you are doing. So far we have received lovely photos and messages from lots of children and parents. Thank you all for going to the trouble.

Don’t forget about using the school Twitter site which is also full of excellent information @kilmacanoguens and if you like what you see, let us know.

And now Miss Murray’s joke!!

Why are elephants so wrinkled?………….Because they take too long to iron!!!!

Look after yourselves and know that we are always here for you.
