KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL

WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER JUNE 13th 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The weeks are positively speeding by at this stage as we prepare for the end of our school year 2017/2018. Lots of events have been happening including our wonderful Sponsored Walk which took place on Monday June 11th organised by the Parents’ Association. The weather was just perfect, not too hot and certainly not too cold as all the children left the school building. It was heart-warming to see the manner in which the older children partnered up with the younger children and how they treated them with such respect and care.

Please don’t forget to bring back your Sponsorship cards and any money raised by Monday June 18th. Remember the funds raised will go towards resurfacing the Junior yard as well as upgrading the school library.

On the evening of Monday June 11th, the parents/guardians of our incoming Junior Infants, along with their children, visited the school to have a look around and to find out all about our wonderful school and what to expect when school starts for their children. The evening was beautiful and I managed to organise the hall so that it was set up with tables covered with blue and white cloths as well as plates and cups decorated with red stars with loads of food, drinks and goodies for everyone. It was like a party! The children played lots of games with Mr Hurley, Ms McManamon and Ms Wolohan. It was really lovely meeting everyone and I look forward to welcoming all the children back when they return on August 30th to start ‘Big School’.

The Wicklow Sports’ will be taking place during Wednesday June 13th, and I wish all those who qualified the very best of luck as they compete in the finals, representing Kilmacanogue National School…….but everyone is a winner as far as I am concerned no matter what!

The 1st Class tour to Greenan Maze will take place this Friday, June15th. The bus will leave at 9.15 am, so please make sure that your child is in school by 9 am.

The 6th Class tour is to Lilliput, Mullingar, and will be taking place next Friday, June 21st. The children must meet at the church carpark at 8 am.

On Monday June 18th, Eric Dempsey from Birds’ Ireland, will be visiting the school. This should be a lovely experience for the children.

Your child’s report will be posted in the next few days, so please, don’t forget about sending in a stamped addressed envelope to the teacher.

And now for Miss Murray’s joke…What time do ducks wake up?……At the quack of dawn!!

Best wishes always,

Niamh Murray  (Principal)
