KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL

WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER

DECEMBER 2ND   2020

Dear Parents/Guardians and of course Boys and Girls,

Something very strange happened at the weekend. I collected our school Christmas Tree from Festina Lente on Saturday and left it at the door of the school that evening. Well……what do you think? When I arrived in school on Monday morning, the Christmas Tree had been completely decorated with lights and stars and coloured baubles! It seems that the elves got together over the weekend and decided to do something very nice for all the boys and girls of Kilmacanogue National School and decorated the tree as a surprise. My elfin source tells me that Elf Rudey from Junior Infants was very helpful indeed, so the boys and girls from Junior Infants must be doing a very good job in showing him the correct way to behave! Well done boys and girls!

November 29th was the first Sunday of Advent and on Monday morning, Fr Hyacinth called to the school at 9:30am and lit the first candle indicating HOPE on the school’s Advent Wreath which can be seen inside the front door. The remaining candles representing PEACE, JOY and LOVE will be lit each week leading up to Christmas Eve. At 11:30am, also on Monday, the children watched a lovely Advent ceremony in their classrooms broadcast live from Enniskerry Parish Church when Fr Kennedy said some special prayers.

Please drop up to the school’s main entrance to see our lovely Christmas Tree decorated by the elves and post your letter to Santa Claus in the letter box next to the tree.

The children have all designed wonderful Christmas Cards. The lovely people in Earlsbrook House Nursing Home, were delighted to see their colours and designs and maybe one of them will be chosen as the Earlsbrook House Christmas Card for this year!! Watch this space.

Last night, Tuesday December 1st, the P/A held their AGM via Zoom. Here is a message from Lisa Dempsey, the hardest working P/A Chairperson!
