KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL

WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER DECEMBER 20th

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Incredibly, this is the last Wednesday Newsletter of 2017 and we all made it together to

Christmas 2017! I still cannot believe that the past few months have flown by so quickly. It has been a wonderful experience for me as your new Principal and I want to thank each and every one of you for welcoming me to the school community that is Kilmacanogue National School and for helping me in all my endeavours to make your school the very  best that it can be for all your children.

Well done to 4th Class and Ms Lynch who raised €560 for Focus Ireland on ‘Christmas Jumper Day’……thanks so much to everyone who donated €2. Christmas can be a sad and a lonely time for many people and it is good to try our best to help those less fortunate than ourselves through donations to charity or by just being there as a friend with a cheery smile and helping hand.

Congratulations to the boys and girls of 5th Class and Ms Denvir on their very fine performance last Thursday December 14th in their Christmas Carol Concert held in Kilmacanogue Church followed by Christmas goodies in the school hall. It was a great success. Thanks to everyone who attended. I know this is a very busy time of the year but on a personal note being part of the Christmas Carol Concert is important and an honour for a class to be chosen. It is also a part of the wonderful activities which go on in the school even though it occurs after school hours. So many thanks again.

Thanks to everyone who attended the concerts in St Mary’s Church, Enniskerry last weekend. There were capacity audiences each night and thank God several thousand was raised which will benefit our wonderful community. THANK YOU EVERYONE.

By the time Friday December 22nd comes around, 18 performances of all the Christmas Plays and Prayer Services will have taken place in the school during the past week, performing to all the parents/guardians as well as to the whole school community! PHEW! As you can imagine, an enormous amount of work goes in to preparing the children for all their performances. I would personally like to thank all the wonderful teachers for their tremendous work and commitment to the education and well-fare of all the boys and girls in Kilmacanogue National School. It has been a pleasure working with each and every one of them and I feel blessed to be the Principal of such a very fine cohort of teaching staff, SNA’s as well as all the ancilliary staff.

Don’t forget that school closes December 22nd at 12 noon and re-opens on January 8th 2018!

I wish each and every one of you a very Happy Christmas with every joy and blessing for a wonderful New Year.

Niamh Murray    (Principal)
