KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL
WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER APRIL 22nd 2020
WE LOVE THE BOYS AND GIRLS OF KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL
Dear Parents/Guardians and of course Boys and Girls,
Welcome back to our virtual reality school! I hope you had a lovely Easter Break and enjoyed the beautiful weather.
Thanks so much to everyone who has completed the anonymous 2 minute online
survey/questionnaire to do with Remote/Home Learning. If it could be completed by all families in the school by this coming Friday April 24th, that would be great.
Here is the link to the survey https://forms.gle/XPTWfpunBywhUBD58
School is an important facet of life and interaction with the school curriculum as well as the social interaction experienced by children, helps to develop children in a holistic fashion, preparing them for the exciting life ahead of them.
As school Principal along with the wonderful teachers here in Kilmacanogue National School, we are endeavouring to do our very best so that all the children in our care reach their full potential and become the very best versions of themselves that they can be.
With this in mind, no work sent home at any stage is designed to cause any stress or to put pressure on children or on their family. Ideally a daily routine which includes some schoolwork is to be encouraged. Parents know their children best and as their primary educators, they know how much or how little their child can do when it comes to doing schoolwork.
If anyone is having trouble printing out or downloading resources sent by their teachers, please let me know and we will try to come up with an alternative way of helping.
Teachers are sending their resources for the week each Sunday evening/Monday morning and checking any responses throughout the days and then giving overall feedback each Friday. Children have the full week to do some or all of the work.
Let me assure you all that once the children return to school, the teachers will of course revise all the work and resources that have been sent to the children since March 12th ……
SO NO-ONE NEEDS WORRY about catching up with others who have completed all the work. Equally, those who have completed all the work, will be encouraged to develop and consolidate what they have learned through teacher led activities which will include project work.
All the children of Kilmacanogue National School are amazing and very clever. They have already learned so much during their time in school and of course have learned so much more IMPORTANT life skills during these very challenging times spent at home.
When school re-opens, it is the children who will be teaching the teachers!!
Regarding the Sacraments of First Confession, First Holy Communion and Confirmation, I am awaiting news and clarification from the Archbishop. There are numerous schools awaiting word and as soon as I have heard anything, I will of course let the parents of those children in 2nd and 6th Classes who are involved know. So, make sure to hold onto your beautiful outfits, boys and girls!
Please keep in contact with the school via the school’s email address kilmacanoguens.com and of course keep in contact with your class teacher. We love hearing from you.
Also check out the school website www.kilmacschool.ie and the school Twitter account @kilmacanoguens because there are some very helpful links and very good ideas posted therein.
Remember we are here to help and support you in any way possible. Any worries or concerns, we can work them out together.
