KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL

WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER

September 8th, 2021

On an apple-ripe September morning,

Through the mist-chill fields I went….

(Patrick Kavanagh)

Dear Parents/Guardians and Families, (Dia Dhaoibh a chairde!)

It is our second week back at school and we are being blessed with glorious weather, thankfully. The words of one of Ireland’s greatest poets ever come to mind above as the countryside looks like ‘no earthly estate’.

The dates for Communion and Confirmation (2nd Classes of 2020/2021 and 6th Class of 2020/2021) have now been decided.

  • First Holy Communion will take place in St. Mocheanóg’s church on Saturday, 23rd October 2021.
  • Confirmation ceremony will take place in St. Mocheanóg’s church on Saturday, 6th November 2021.

We are delighted that GAA Skills and Coaching with Jackie Kinch will be starting again for Senior Infants, 1st class, 3rd Class Orange and 3rd Class Green, 4th Class and 5th Class on Thursday next week (weather permitting, of course.)

The Parish Council has asked me to give you the following message regarding a Tidy Up:

In preparation for the Holy Communion and Confirmation Masses there will be a tidy up of the grounds this coming Wednesday 8th September from 6-8:30pm and this will continue each Wednesday as required.

Lots of help is needed to have the church and grounds looking its best for this wonderful occasion.

Your help would be very much appreciated.

Could you please encourage some younger family members (where appropriate) to help also? Please bring gloves, brushes, strimmers, rakes, gardening tools and big bags for cutting, collecting and disposing of the green waste.

Covid-19 social distance to be maintained. Thank you

Thank you to all of you who have already paid fees to the office, which is very much appreciated.

Roald Dahl’s birthday will be celebrated in the school next Monday, 13th September. Each teacher will inform you of what they are planning to do with their class to mark the occasion. Some classes have chosen to read, others to dress as a favourite character from one of his books. It should be a lot of fun for all of us!

P.E. days are as follows:

Junior Infants: Tuesdays and Thursdays

Senior Infants: Tuesdays and Thursdays

1st Class: Mondays and Wednesdays (+ GAA coaching Thursdays this term)

2nd Class: Wednesdays and Fridays

3rd Class Orange: Tuesdays and Thursdays

3rd Class Green: Mondays and Wednesdays (+GAA coaching Thursdays this term)

4th Class: Tuesdays and Fridays (+GAA coaching Thursdays this term)

5th Class: Tuesdays and Thursdays

6th Class: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays.

All are encouraged to wear their uniform on non P.E. days. Please have names on sweatshirts, which are quite prone to go missing! Thank you.

Bray People photographer, Leigh will be here tomorrow to photograph the Junior Infants for the newspaper. These are always special pictures, marking this significant milestone in your childrens’ lives.

Once again, just a reminder that absolutely no food containing nuts is to be brought into school due to severe nut allergies. Many thanks again for your support in this regard.

Warmest best wishes,

Ann Marie

Ms. Burnham’s 5th class designed and painted ‘Prayer Rocks’ and read a poem to remind them to say their night time prayers. Aren’t they beautiful? See below!
