KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL

WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER SEPTEMBER 4TH 2019

Dear Parents/Guardians and of course Boys and Girls,

Welcome back for the start of our 2019/2020 school year. I hope that each of you had a lovely summer. It has been wonderful greeting all of the children and to see how much they have grown over the past couple of months……I hardly recognised them! Welcome also to our new Junior Infants and to the new children who have joined classes throughout the school……we are delighted to have you as part of the family of Kilmacanogue National School.

Lots of work has been done throughout the school while you were on holidays such as the painting of the 3 remaining classrooms as well as painting the upper corridor where the Junior Classes are. The shed has been revitalised with a splash of rainbow colours with special thanks to Eva Hogan. All the inner school doors have now been painted a lovely bright blue colour and just wait until you see our gorgeous library all beautifully fitted out.

Thanks to all the parents who have contributed to the many fundraisers over the past couple of years. Without their support of and generosity to the Parents’ Association, projects like the new school library would remain on a wish list rather than coming to fruition. A special thank you to Michelle Hammond and Virginia Seda Bunce, the ‘library ladies’ for driving the project

The fence around the school has been replaced with a stylish wall and in a few months more mature trees will be planted, replacing those trees which, alas, had to be removed to facilitate the building of the houses.

Most of the classes now have new tables and chairs and I am hoping to have presses installed over the next few months to enable storage.

After school activities will commence in the next week or so, but we shall keep you posted about this.

Well done to all the children who are making the effort to wear their correct school uniform. Remember that tracksuit pants should only be worn on PE/Sports’ days.

We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Protima and Patrick Mooney (3rd Class) on the sad occasion of the passing of Larry Mooney, a beloved husband and father. Our thoughts and prayers and support are with them at this difficult time.

We have 2 new teachers on our staff for this year. Ms Orla Kyne and Mr Seán O’Connor who are teaching 6th and 5th Classes respectively. We are delighted to have them on board.

Just a little reminder that the school does not open until 9:20am. Ideally the children should not be on the school grounds much before this time as there is absolutely no supervision. Thank you for your understanding in this regard.

I know that you have all missed my jokes……so here goes!

What time do ducks wake up?………At the quack of dawn!!!
