Dear Parents/Guardians and Families,
Autumn is perhaps our loveliest season of all, especially when the weather is as kind as it has been this year. Our third week back at school is almost over.
We celebrated the writer, Roald Dahl’s birthday on Monday. Many of the children showed that they were greatly inspired by his novels in their style of dress that day! From designs of chocolate bar wrappers to simply reading passages from his books, an enjoyable time was experienced by his eager followers.
Next week, on Tuesday 21st September, we will mark International Peace Day in some simple ways at school.
For anyone who has paid their school insurance online, please return the slip with your child’s name and signed by parent/guardian with date. It was at the bottom of the page regarding the insurance. Please let us know if you need a copy of same.
Remember also that when a child is absent, you are expected to contact the office by email or phone to let us know the reason for absence. Thank you.
Again, may we remind you that the Admissions Policy is on our website, www.kilmacschool.ie It is important to consult this document as the opportunity to apply for admission is coming up in a few more weeks. The date for applications to be made will commence October 4th 2021, and absolutely no applications received before this date will be accepted.
Dates for Communion and Confirmation (2nd Classes of 2020/2021 and 6th Class of 2020/2021) are as follows:
Saturday 23rd October for First Communion: There will be two ceremonies, the first to begin at 10 a.m. and the second to begin at midday. Third Class Orange will be part of the first ceremony and Third Class Green for the midday ceremony. The Sacrament of Reconciliation/Penance/First Confession will thus take place within the ceremony at the Penitential Rite.
The Confirmation ceremony will take place on Saturday, 6th November at 11 a.m.
Keep an eye on the weather as your children may need to wear coats to school again, as the weather gets colder and we will be playing outside as much as possible. We continue to strongly encourage all of the children to wear their uniforms on non P.E. days. Please remember that earrings are not permitted for health and safety reasons.
Headlice come and go as we know! Please be vigilant and treat hair as soon as possible should you notice anything suspicious!
Also, excuse the constant reminders about food containing nuts but it truly is a very serious matter.We have a number of children in the school with severe nut allergies.
Many thanks for your support. It is greatly appreciated as I navigate these new rapids ! With the great team we have, the moorings are surely solid.
