Dear Parents and Guardians,
Imagine, it is already October and autumn is definitely upon us as can be seen by all the beautiful colours of orange, yellow, brown and red contained in all the trees with their falling leaves.
Another week has gone by and your children have worked very hard achieving great standards in all aspects of the curriculum. I have noticed very healthy lunches as well…..keep up the great work.
Some after school activities have started with more to follow……information will be forthcoming shortly. Art classes, each Wednesday, are already taking place in the hall with Ms Eva Hogan and are proving to be very popular.
Have you noticed our lovely new red notice boards which are placed throughout the school? There are great displays of Art from all the classes displayed on them, please do come in and take a look.
The girls from 3rd and 4th classes were involved in a football blitz in Bray Emmetts today and great fun was had by all.
Mindfulness and yoga sessions are proving to be a great success with the 4th, 5th and 6th classes. Ms Broaders has been very generous with her time and gentle enthusiasm.
Mass for children preparing for their Confirmation will take place at 10 am next Sunday October 8th in Kilmacanogue Church. I look forward to seeing everyone there. There was a great turn out, a couple of weeks ago, at the Mass for those children from 2nd Class preparing for their First Holy Communion.
Garda vetting forms have been posted and replies should follow shortly. Thanks to everyone for their support and understanding. Anyone wishing to enrol their children, please contact us asap.
I know that it can be an unpleasant topic, but we all need to be mindful of lice!! Parents, please check your child’s hair regularly and wash with a shampoo designed to annihilate the unwelcome critters!
Respect for one another is such an important facet of the lovely atmosphere to be found in Kilmacanogue National School, and I know that all the boys and girls are working very hard on their motto: If it’s not nice don’t do it, and if it’s not nice, don’t say it, and we must not forget our 6 Golden Rules!
I would like to say a word of thanks to our wonderful SNA staff for all their hard work; Eva Hogan, Ann Lee, Emma Sibley and Róisín Glynn. What about Siobhán Wolohan and Fiona Power who work so hard in the office? I couldn’t manage without them! Thanks as well to Kevin Coleman our caretaker and Colm Griffith and Ann Casserly who do a great job cleaning our school. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful community caring for us all here in Kilmacanogue National School.
I think that it is important to be mindful of others and perhaps to say a little prayer for those who are not as lucky as we are, especially people living in parts of the world suffering from hunger or acts of violence such as was experienced in Las Vegas recently.
