KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL

WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER OCTOBER 17th 2018

 Dear Parents/Guardians,

I would like to extend a big welcome to our new Parents’ Association Committee who have lots of exciting plans for this coming year. Their plans include a non-uniform/fancy dress day, on Thursday October 25th, with a donation of €2 per child being be much appreciated.

Also there will be a cake sale in the school hall on the same day. If you could donate any cakes or buns please leave them in the school hall on the afternoon of Wednesday October 24th., ideally after school, because there will be PE taking place in the hall, or drop them in on the morning of October 25th. The Parents’ Association will also hold a raffle for the parents, with tickets on sale in the Parish Hall from 1.30pm on Thursday October 25th. They have some great prizes including a voucher for €150!! If you have any prizes to donate please let the Parents’ Association know.

Hallowe’en is nearly upon us and the children were absolutely thrilled and appropriately scared to see all the fantastic Hallowe’en decorations festooned throughout the school by the Parents’ Association. Thanks again to our wonderful parents.

I had another lovely opportunity earlier today to go and see our girls from 5th and 6th classes playing in their football blitz in Bray Emmet’s. The sun was shining and it was little chilly but none the less they all played brilliantly. Well done girls.

A special reminder about food I the school, especially with the cake sale next week…….NO NUTS PLEASE. There are a few children with severe nut allergies and I appreciate your understanding in not letting your child/children have food in school containing nuts.

A reminder that this is the time of the year when anyone wishing to enrol in our school needs to get in contact with the school office for the enrolment details and criteria. Our numbers are increasing year by year and it is important to fill out all necessary forms asap. Forms should be submitted by October 31st for children hoping to attend September 2019.

The school will be closed on October 26th for the Presidential Election.

And now……..Miss Murray’s joke! What do birds do on social media?

They tweet!! (Thanks to John McElhinney for his joke)
