WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 21st 2018 
Dear Parents/Guardians,
‘Ireland, Ireland together standing tall. Shoulder to shoulder we’ll answer Ireland’s call.’ At assembly on Monday, the children raised the roof in the school hall singing Ireland’s Call and on Tuesday, green was the predominant colour worn by almost everyone throughout the school in celebration of the Irish Rugby Team’s historic victory over the All-Blacks.
Tuesday also saw the return of the Mathletics4Schools’ coaches who specialise in integrating Maths with Sports. Classes from 1st up to 6th had a wonderful time and enjoyed the activities in the school hall, thus managing to get very good exercise in spite of the dreadful weather outside.
The dates and times of the various Christmas Performances of the children will be announced in the next few days, so that arrangements can be made by any parents/guardians wishing to attend.
A reminder that the Vision and Hearing Tests for the Junior Infants will take place on Monday 26th November in the school.
The special fund-raising Christmas Fair for the school will take place in the school hall on December 2nd after 10:00am Mass. There will be lots of stalls containing arts and crafts and food produce. It should be really exciting.
Kate Flynn, a very altruistic young lady with loads of positivity as well as being a past pupil of Kilmacanogue, will be calling to the school on December 19th to chat to the children about a lovely charity called the Burren Chernobyl Nappy Project. Yes, that is the name of it! It is all about buying nappies for the children in Chernobyl which will be transported over to them.
The weather is particularly cold these days, and it would be important that the children have warm clothes including hats and gloves on them. Also, if your child is absent please let the office know and write a note in the homework journal or on a piece of paper when he/she returns to school for the teachers’ records. Thank you for this.
A word about our wonderful SNA Ann Lee who will be retiring from Kilmacanogue National School on Friday November 23rd. It has been an absolute joy and honour to work with this very special lady and she shall surely be badly missed in the school. Thanks for everything, Ann, you are a treasure.
And now…….joke time!
Why was the Maths’ book so sad?………Because it had so many problems.
