KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL

WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 14th  2018

 Dear Parents/Guardians,

Winter has certainly returned with a bang! The wind and the rain at times are stopping our boys and girls from running outside and enjoying the fresh country air of Kilmacanogue. It is very important that the children wrap up warmly during these cold days.

At our Monday assemblies, the children learn some new and interesting facts. The reason our image for today’s Wednesday Newsletter is of a kangaroo is because the children learned on Monday that if a kangaroo’s tail is lifted off the ground, it cannot hop! They also learned that a flock of crows is known as a murder! They also found out that if one glass jar is recycled, enough energy is saved to watch television for three hours!!

Could I remind everyone, children and parents to make sure that they walk on the path coming up to school and going home? This is very important as there have been a few close calls where drivers could not see children and there could have been serious accidents.

Children have been given their Christmas Cards today. Please could they return the order forms with the money at the latest Monday 19th November? Also the orders for County Photos must be in by this Friday November 16th, as they are being collected then. The Christmas Annuals’ orders have to be returned by next Wednesday 21st at the latest.

The Vision and Hearing Tests for the Junior Infants is on Monday 26th November in the school.

Thanks so much to all the children and parents for the non-uniform day which raised over €500 for the Bray Lakers. The children and parents of Kilmacanogue National School are always so generous.

A reminder that a special fund-raising Christmas Fair for the school will take place in the school hall on December 2nd after 10:00am Mass. There will be lots of stalls containing arts and crafts and food produce. Any help would be gratefully appreciated along with any donations for the raffle. Thanks to our wonderful SNA’s Emma Sibley and Eva Hogan for organising this as well as the P/A for all their help. It should be a very special occasion.

The annual Christmas Carol Service presented by 5th Class will take place in St Mochonog’s Church, Kilmacanogue at 7pm on Wednesday December 19th. All are welcome.

And now…….joke time!

What gets wetter the more it dries?……….A towel!!!
