Dear Parents/Guardians,
As you can see from the picture, ‘Aladdin’ came to visit our school on today. All the children were treated to a feast of fun and drama and colour from the West Midland Children’s Theatre Touring Group who visited us from England. It was a well-deserved treat following on from all the hard work done by the children these past few weeks including the completion of the Drumcondra tests in the senior classes. More fun and games will follow when School Active Sports’ Week happens during the week beginning May 28th.
A reminder from last week’s newsletter for everyone regarding all the tours and events going on in the school: the tours for each of the classes will be taking place during June, please check with your child’s class teacher: the exciting annual Sponsored Walk will be taking place on Monday June 11th, so get those walking shoes out and make sure that there are cups of tea for us all when we pass by your house along the way: the Wicklow Sports’ date is Wednesday June 13th and finally on Monday June 18th, Eric Dempsey, from Birds’ Ireland, will be visiting the school.
On Saturday, May 19th, the children of Second Class made their First Holy Communion. It was a glorious, sun-filled day in every way. The Church Ceremony was especially moving with all the children singing their hymns and saying their prayers beautifully. Thanks so much to Ms Eibhlin de Bruin for all her wonderful work throughout the year and to Fr Bernard Kennedy for celebrating this lovely ceremony and for the manner in which he always makes any ceremony so child centred. Thanks also to Celia Flynn for all her support and work during the year and thanks too to those boys and girls from 3rd and 4th Class who gave up their Saturday morning to sing in the choir. The Parents’ Association excelled themselves in the manner in which they decorated the school hall and the outside picnic areas as well as providing all the scrumptious food. The school office has been inundated with wonderful comments regarding the whole day. Well done every one.
Reminder that the Referendum vote will be taking place in the school, so there will be no school on Friday May 25th. The school will close also on June 1st and June 4th for the Bank Holiday.
The teachers will be posting out the reports over the few weeks. Please could you send in a stamped addressed envelope to your child’s class teacher by Thursday May 31st?
Thanks to Taha Saber Taha, Sarah Kearns, Muireann Tighe and Joshua Lacey from 4th Class who along with Eva Hogan (our artiste in residence) decorated our lovely May display at the school entrance.
