WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER MAY 16th 2018
Dear Parents/Guardians, 
The school is extremely busy these days. The children are doing their Drumcondra Tests this week and next, and the school has been very quiet so that everyone can concentrate and do their very best. Yesterday was low energy day, so we had all the lights off throughout the school and all the interactive whiteboards were resting, even Miss Murray was having a low energy day! The children came up with some suggestions. At home we can do several things to help conserve energy such as: switching appliances off at the sockets; wearing jumpers instead of turning on the heat; reducing the thermostats; turning off the lights; having shorter showers. Well done everyone
On May 23rd a lovely drama group will be performing in the school, when the children will be treated to a performance of ‘Aladdin’. It’ll be a little treat for the children after all their hard work. School Active Sports’ Week will be happening the week beginning May 28th.
The tours for each of the classes will be taking place during June, please check with your child’s class teacher. The exciting annual Sponsored Walk will be taking place on Monday June 11th, so get those walking shoes out and make sure that there are cups of tea for us all when we pass by your house along the way!! The Wicklow Sports’ date is Wednesday June 13th. On Monday June 18th, Eric Dempsey, from Birds’ Ireland, will be visiting the school. Some of you may recognise him as he has worked a lot on RTE with Derek Mooney and his show ‘Mooney Goes Wild’…..I hope that he doesn’t go too wild when he arrives!!
And so the time has come for the First Holy Communion of our wonderful 2nd Class and their teacher Ms de Brúin. All the children have been working so hard learning their prayers and songs and have been up and down to the Church regularly to pay a visit to Our Lord. I am so looking forward to the day, this Saturday May 19th at 10 am. We are also very lucky to have some of the boys and girls from 3rd and 4th Classes who have very kindly given up their Saturday morning to come and sing in the choir. All we want now is for Mr Sunshine to come along and stay with us all day!!
Reminder that the Referendum vote will be taking place in the school, so there will be no school on Friday May 25th. The school will close also on June 1st and June 4th for the Bank Holiday.
Congratulations to everyone, the money raised for Trócaire amounted to €1,413.75. As I always say, the children of Kilmacanogue National School are so kind. Thank you all so very much.
This coming Saturday there will be a lovely Indian Evening organized by Protima Mooney in the rectory of Christ Church to raise funds for that parish. There will be food, dancing and music at a cost of €20 per person or €30 for two. It will start at 7 pm.
And now for Miss Murray’s joke…How did the farmer fix his jeans?……….With a cabbage patch!!
