    KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL

    WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER MARCH 6TH 2019

     Dear Parents/Guardians,

Seo Seachtain na Gaeilge agus tá na buachallí agus na cailíní ag déanamh iarracht an Ghaeilge a labhairt. Tá fógraí agus póstaeir ar fud na háite. Maith thú go léir!

The sun may be shining these days but the temperature is still very low! At least it is not as cold as it was this time last year with all the snow!

The boys and girls of 6th Class have been taking part in the GAA Cumann na nBunscol games in Bray Emmets during this past week. Well done, they are great.

Yesterday, was Pancake Tuesday or Shrove Tuesday and there was the smell of pancakes wafting through the school. Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, and is a reminder that Christians are entering a season of penance. Shrove Tuesday is also known as Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras (which is simply French for Fat Tuesday). Lent gives us all a chance to reflect on the important things of life as during the next 40 days we prepare for Easter.

Thanks to all the parents who are letting the school know, either by email or by ringing the office, that their children will be absent or late coming to school by 9:30am, it is a great help to us. Garda Adam Nolan will be calling to the school tomorrow, Thursday March 7th to talk to the children about ‘Stranger Danger’ and he will also be talking to the children about Internet Safety and Cyber-Bullying at a later date. If you have concerns about these issues or indeed any issues at all, please come to talk to me about your worries. Together we can sort things out.

Well done to the boys and girls of 6th Class and to their teacher, Ms Eibhlin de Bruin on the lovely Service of Light which took place last Wednesday. We are all looking forward to the Confirmation Ceremony which will take place next Friday week, March 15th.

Hannah Dunford will commence the popular after school yoga classes in the school hall each Wednesday beginning today from 3:10pm to 4pm. There are a few places left. Please contact her. Eva Hogan will re-commence her wonderful Art Classes starting next Tuesday, March 12th, and a letter has been sent out regarding this. Please contact Eva.

Well done to everyone who has brought in a sport’s sticker to fill our huge Lidl Poster featuring Paul O’Connell. We could be in with a chance of winning €50,000 worth of sports’ equipment/facilities. Thanks to Lisa Dempsey for organising this.

    And finally, Miss Murray’s joke.

Where do cows go for entertainment??………The mooooooo-vies!!

    Niamh Murray (Principal)
