KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL
WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER MARCH 4TH 2020
Dear Parents/Guardians, Boys and Girls,
At last March has arrived! We have been very busy in school throughout this past week starting with our assembly on Monday. A little section from St Matthew’s Gospel was read to the children in which was written: Happy are those who work for peace; God will call them his children. We learned about the importance of being merciful and we read a prayer written by the wonderful St Teresa of Calcutta who dedicated her entire life looking after the poor and oppressed.
The children also had an amazing fun filled time when Simon and Caradh, both elite athletes, came to the school today and encouraged the children to participate in various station activities. The ENTIRE school took part and some children were also lucky enough to demonstrate some kick-boxing and glove boxing with Caradh, who is a world champion.
The winners of the Write -A- Book competition will be announced tomorrow. More details to follow next week. Congratulations to all those who took part. The standard was incredibly high and as far as I am concerned, everyone was and is a WINNER!
Tomorrow evening at 7pm, our young people from 6th class will take part in the Service of Light Ceremony which is a lovely start to the actual Confirmation Ceremony which will be taking place next Friday 13th at 11am in St Mochonog’s Church. The Sacrament of Penance, also known as the Penitential Rite and First Confession, will take place for 2nd class on Thursday March 19th at 7pm.
Don’t forget that the school will be closed Monday March 16th and Tuesday March 17th for St Patrick’s Day.
An Seachtain seo chugainn beimid ag iarraidh Gaeilge a labhairt ar fud na h-áite. Beidh na páistí ag damsha agus ag sugradh agus ag glacadh páirte i dTráth na gCeist. Táimid go léir ag tnuth leis an imeacht sona seo.
Just a gentle reminder about wearing the correct uniform please. False nails are not allowed. Also, for insurance purposes and health and safety, children should not be in the school grounds before 9:10am. There is no one to supervise them at this time until school opens at 9:20am. Thank you for your support in this.
And now for another one of Miss Murray’s incredibly funny jokes!
What kind of tree fits in your hand? A Palm Tree!!
