Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope you all had a wonderful St Patrick’s Weekend. Wasn’t it fantastic Ireland winning the Grand Slam as well as the 6 Nations Rugby Championship? The Cub and Scout leaders, ably led by Margaret, served a lovely full Irish breakfast in the Parish Hall on St Patrick’s morning. There must have been at least 100 people there! I really enjoyed meeting everyone and the hall looked beautiful and the food was very tasty indeed. Well done to everyone involved.

What can I say about our amazing 6^th Class young ladies and gentlemen? I was very moved by the dignity and grace of their Confirmation Ceremony which took place on Friday March 16^th. Kilmacanogue Church, St Mochonóg’s Church, was beautifully decorated with their art work, and the professional and respectful manner in which everyone read and participated throughout the Confirmation was indeed a credit to all the young people and their parents and guardians. Thanks must also obviously be extended to Ms Montgomery and Ms Redmond for the enormous amount of work they put in to organising everything for the celebration as well as preparing the young people of 6^th Class for this very special day in their lives. The art work was directed by Eva Hogan…..our artist in residence! The choir sang beautifully and rose to the occasion magnificently even though they had hardly any time to rehearse because of a little thing called Storm Emma! Thank you to Fr Larry Behan and to Fr Bernard Kennedy, who celebrated the Confirmation Mass and made the whole event so memorable. Thanks too to the Parents’ Association under the guidance of their Chairperson, Melanie Lee, for the beautiful spread of food laid out in the Parish Hall. The whole day was very special. Thank you one and all.

A letter has been sent out regarding Scarlet Fever……just be vigilant and all will be well. I know that some of the children were a little worried, but there is no need.

Well done to everyone who has collected money for Trócaire. You are all so kind. Please do not bring any boxes or loose money for Trócaire into the school before the Easter Holidays. Money is never kept on the school premises especially over the holidays. Boxes may be left in to the school after the Easter Holidays when any money collected will immediately be handed over to Trócaire.

A reminder for everyone that the school will be closing this coming Friday March 23^rd at noon for the Easter Holidays and will reopen on Monday April 9^th. Parents please be on time to collect your children because the school will be closing promptly.
