KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL

WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER MARCH 14th   2018

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Lots of exciting things are going on throughout the school these days. There is a lot of art work and stories in evidence as we prepare for the feast day of our patron saint, St Patrick,  Lá Fhéile Pádraig. He was a kind, gentle and holy man. Ba dhuine comhchineasach, mhín agus naofa é.

Our 6th Class young ladies and gentlemen were absolutely wonderful last week in their Service of Light and it’s all systems go for the major celebration of their Confirmation which will take place this Friday, March 16th at 11 am. The sounds of singing can be heard wafting throughout the school as the choir, featuring children from 3rd and 4th Classes, gets ready to sing at the Confirmation Mass this Friday.

The work going on in each class is truly amazing. Here is a very small snapshot! Junior Infants have been learning all about the pet shop, and I don’t mean The Pet Shop Boys! Senior Infants have been working on keeping their play spaces tidy and I am sure that you have noticed this at home! 1st Class have been studying the weather, specifically all about rain and the water cycle. Hopefully, when they start studying the sun, then we shall have very sunny days! 2nd Class are busy preparing for their Ceremony of Reconciliation taking place on March 22nd at 7.30pm as well as learning all about Fractions! 3rd  Class had a battle raging in the hall between the Vikings and the Monks because the Vikings were raiding the monasteries. The children made weapons and helmets and it all looked fantastic and sounded scary! 4th Class had a visit from Brendan O’Brien who is the grandson of the great Irish Antarctic explorer Tom Crean. It was incredibly interesting listening to Brendan talking about Tom. Thanks so much Brendan for your time. 5th Class have been busy working on experiments to do with electricity. Bobby Free did an amazing project showing open and closed circuits, well done Bobby. So there….it is all go here in Kilmacanogue National School.

Some dates to remember…apart from Ireland v England in rugby Championship March 17th
