SINCE THIS NEWSLETTER WAS PUBLISHED WEDNESDAY 11TH, THE SCHOOL HAS CLOSED UNTIL MARCH 29TH DUE TO THE COVID -19 VIRUS. THEREFORE CONFIRMATION AND FIRST CONFESSION HAVE BEEN POSTPONED
Dear Parents/Guardians, Boys and Girls,
Another busy week here in Kilmacanogue National School especially with the finals of the Tarmac Rounders taking place. The winners are:
3rd Class: Hubert Citko and Alice Sartori Pedrozo dos Santos
4th Class: Darragh Redden, Tadhg Reynolds, Eabha May Conti and Keiten Barreto
5th Class: Oisin Shortt, Madison Phillips and Kaiter Barreto
6th Class: Savannah Mason, Alex Condon and Joshua Lacey
Congratulations to everyone who took part over the past few months. Special thanks to our wonderful young people of 6th Class who organised everything to do with the Tarmac Rounders. Job very well done!!
Further congratulations to 6th Class on the success of their lovely Service of Light which took place last Thursday evening in St Mochonog’s Church. It was a really special, spiritual celebration. The celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation will take place this coming Friday 11am and that will be memorable for all involved and we wish the young people of 6th every blessing in these last days of preparation. A reminder that the Sacrament of Penance, also known as the Penitential Rite and First Confession, will take place for 2nd class on Thursday March 19th at 7pm soon after we return from our St Patrick’s Day mini break.
Don’t forget that the school will be closed Monday March 16th and Tuesday March 17th for St Patrick’s Day.

At this worrying time around COVID 19 virus, I want to assure all the parents and the whole school community that we are doing our utmost to safeguard the health and well-being of everyone. Every day at 10:45am and again at 12:40pm, the entire school comes to a halt and every single child washes his/her hands thoroughly guided by me, the Principal and all the teachers and SNAs. Fresh, clean towels are available every single day as well as kitchen paper and wipes and soap pumps and mini bar soaps and hand sanitisers. The children are doing a fabulous job of washing their hands and their hands have never been so clean and soft. At the end of the day, it is all about being sensible and the simple washing of the hands with soap and suds can make an enormous difference.
At the back of this newsletter is a copy of advice for schools sent by the HSE. Anymore information should be found on the website www.hse.ie and the school and the Board of Management will be guided by this up to date information on a daily basis. We will of course keep you all updated also and informed about everything that is going on regarding the COVID 19
