Dear Parents/Guardians and of course Boys and Girls, 
And so we have reached the summer holidays and what a year we have all had! The children have been wonderful and have shown incredible resilience and positivity through these very difficult times. It has been great having them back in school learning and having lots and lots of fun and sports! As a school community and as Principal, we all wanted to run the school as normal as possible and to include lots of fun activities and tours in line with the HSE and gov.ie guidelines thus safeguarding the children and adults from contracting the virus and thankfully we achieved these goals and managed to keep COVID-19 out of our school, one of the very few schools that can say that. Well done everyone for all your efforts and hard work.
Our wonderful 6th Class young ladies and gentlemen celebrated their Graduation Ceremony on Monday June 28th with their families looking in via ZOOM to the official part of the celebrations followed by the yummy part when all the goodies were devoured by the children, including ice-creams when our favourite ice-cream lady, Lorraine, arrived with ice-creams for everyone in the school to celebrate the Graduation of 6th Class.
We were all delighted to welcome Tony Lawlor today, Wednesday June 30th, who called to the school to present the winners of his cup, the Tony Lawlor Cup. This great competition has been taking place in Kilmacanogue National School since 1984. Congratulations to Flynn Ryan, Sean Prendergast, Maria Doyle, Nathan Carr, Ellie Keenan, Megan Brown, Madison Phillips and Ross Mocharskyy and thanks so much to Ms Montgomery Quinn for organising these competitions.
The 6th Class children also said goodbye formally today to Kilmacanogue National School and experienced the lovely, emotional walk down the school pathway led by their class teacher Mr O’Connor Levingston while being applauded by all the other children who were lined up on either side of the path.
As you all know by now, I shall be on secondment as Director of Blackrock Education Centre starting September 1st until August 31st 2022. I personally want to thank everyone for all their kindness and support over the past 4 years of my Principalship and for all the kind wishes and gifts and flowers on my secondment. Ms Ann Marie Bourke will be a wonderful ‘Acting’ Principal and Mrs Dolores McCormack will be an excellent ‘Acting’ Deputy for the year. I shall miss you all, especially all the children I love so dearly, but it won’t be long before I am back again.
Thanks also to the Board of Management, Parents’ Association, teachers, SNAs, children, parents/guardians, Fr Kennedy and Fr Hyacinth, Siobhan and Fiona our wonderful secretaries, Colm and Ann who keep the school looking so spick and span and Brian our caretaker.
And finally, now for Miss Murray’s incredibly funny jokes! 😊 😊
