KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL
WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER JANUARY 30th 2019
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The annual Parent/Teacher meetings were completed last week and I want to say a big ‘Thank you’ to everyone who attended and to all the teachers. It is very important to meet your child’s class teacher regularly anyway, with the annual meetings being opportunities to receive updates on the progress of your child. Remember we are here to help you in any way we can. Your child’s happiness and well-being in every area of his/her life is of paramount concern to me as Principal as well as to all the teachers here in Kilmacanogue National School.
The Laudate Concert will take place this very evening in the Church of St Thérèse, Mount Merrion, featuring some of the children from 2nd and 5th Classes. The concert will only last about one hour and 15 minutes and the coach will collect the children from the school at 5:30pm and return them after the concert, estimated arrival back to school at 8:45pm.
The Peace Proms Concert will take place this coming Saturday in the RDS at 8pm featuring the children from 3rd and 4th Classes. The coaches will collect the children from the school at 4:45pm and will bring them back, estimated arrival back to school at 11:00pm.
WhizzKids, the computer course, started last Friday 25th with children from 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th. This will last for the next 9 weeks and will certainly make those Fridays very interesting for everyone involved.
A note from the Green School Committee. We are collecting used batteries in school over the next couple of weeks, so bring in any sized batteries to your classroom and we will make sure that they get recycled properly.
You may have noticed that there is some work being done on the old toilets in the corridor alongside the PE hall. I am hoping very shortly to have these rooms completed which will provide us with a lovely library space for the children as well as a sensory room. Along with the Board of Management, I shall keep you updated about this exciting venture which will be of immediate benefit to our wonderful school.
The Parent Association are planning a Dinner Dance in March. More details will follow when this event has been discussed fully and ratified by the Board of Management following their meeting which will take place on February, 7th.
And finally, Miss Murray’s joke.
Why couldn’t they play cards on the Ark?………Because Noah was sitting on the deck!!!
