Dear Parents/Guardians, Boys and Girls,
What a week we have had with Storm Brendan battering our lovely island of Ireland and as for here in Kilmacanogue National School, it has been very exciting looking at the swaying trees and listening to the raging gales howling around our rooftop and watching the pelting rain as it poured rivers of water down onto our building. But the children did not mind, because they were safe and sound and nice and warm in our cosy little school, working away busily and doing their very best so that Miss Murray could CATCH THEM BEING GOOD!
Congratulations to Béibhínn Lavery who was awarded the Cill Mocheanóg CLG Jack Sutton Perpetual Trophy for GAA last week. Congratulations also to Aoife Fox, Regan King and Niamh Kelly from 6th Class who were representing Wicklow in Scór na nÓg under 17 years of age in Tráth na gCeist last Sunday. They did incredibly well and we are very proud of them. The questions were extremely difficult and I do not know how they knew all the answers, they were amazing!
Just a reminder that the Parent/Teacher meetings will take place next Tuesday 21st, Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd. Make sure to get the details from your child’s class teacher.
Most of the after-school activities have commenced and the details have been given to the children in each class. Make sure to make contact with the organisers of these activities as the school does not organise them. Also, Karate will start in the school from next Thursday January 23rd at 3pm for children from 1st up to 6th classes. Please contact Felisity Cullen on 0857331022 for further details.
A little reminder that no child should be wearing fake nails into school and ideally no nail varnish, they are not part of the correct uniform. Thank you for your understanding in this and also well done to all the children who are wearing their correct uniform.
It is great to have Jackie Kinch back with us to do GAA during school each Thursday and Friday with all the classes. The children really enjoy these classes and the little Junior Infants are doing really well listening to her and following all her instructions. We may have All-Ireland Champions in our midst!
A big thank you to Fr Hyacinth who celebrated Mass in our school PE hall on Monday for the children from 2nd up to 6th. He was very impressed at the reverential behaviour of all the children and the respect they showed him and to the Blessed Sacrament. It was very moving having a Mass celebrated in the school and there was a lovely sense of well-being following it.
