KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL

WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER JANUARY 10th 2018

Dear Parents and Guardians,

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2018. I hope that each and every one of you had a magical and blessed Christmas and that Santa Claus was very generous to all the children and adults!! Our welcoming balloons were a very happy sight to behold on the way up to school as we all started back for a wonderful New Year.

The weeks before our Christmas holidays were very busy in school and I would like to thank all the children, parents and teachers for all their hard work and support throughout all the activities, which included over 18 performances involving carol concerts, Christmas plays, Christmas prayer services, Reuben the magician, a visit from Santa Claus who brought chocolate Santas for every child in the school, fundraising activities for charities such as Temple Street Children’s Hospital and Focus Ireland, concerts in St Mary’s Church, Enniskerry, which raised funds for our school, the children’s disco, as well as lots of fun and laughter throughout the school……which is also very important!

Now, a new term and a New Year has begun. The past is a different country and as I said to the children at assembly on Monday, any little issues which may have upset them during the past year are gone and it is time to look to the future with a clean slate so to speak. Kilmacanogue National School with its wonderful teachers and SNA’s is just the place to achieve great goals with all the magnificent parents and their children. Together, all working as a united team, we can achieve great things and ultimately that is what we want for our wonderful children.

A few dates for your diary……

The Parent/Teacher meetings will take place officially on Monday 22nd, Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th of January after school. School will close 15 minutes earlier at 2.45pm to accommodate these meetings.

Ceremony of Light for 6th Class will take place on Thursday March 8th at 7.30pm with Confirmation on Friday March 16th at 11am both in Kilmacanogue Church.

First Confession for 2nd Class will take place on Thursday March 22nd at 7.30pm and First Holy Communion will be on Saturday May 19th at 10am both in Kilmacanogue Church.

Our school has been chosen to be part of the Laudate Choral Concert which will take place on Wednesday, 31st January 2018, in the Church of the Guardian Angels, Newtownpark Ave., Blackrock, at 7pm. The two classes representing us are Mrs Whelan’s 3rd Class and Ms Lynch’s 4th Class and I must say that the boys and girls have been practising very hard learning all the lovely songs. I am delighted with the quality of their singing voices and great musicality.

Time for me to sign off for now, but once again let me wish each and every one of you a wonderful New Year and please be assured of my total commitment to you and to your children.
