Dear Parents/Guardians and of course Boys and Girls,

It is great that February has at last arrived with the start of springtime and the feast day of St Brigid on the first day of the month reminding us that good weather is on the way and flowers will be blooming all around us very soon!

It was lovely meeting the boys and girls of 6^th Class via ZOOM today, Wednesday, with their class teacher Mr O’Connor Levingston and our Deputy Principal Ms Bourke to chat about their progress amongst other things. It is hard to believe that they will be all leaving Kilmacanogue National School in just a few months’ time to start their Secondary School Education. I am determined that before that time comes, we will celebrate with lots of fun and sports and concerts when school reopens in the not-too-distant future!

Regarding the ceremonies of the Service of Light and Confirmation, The Sacrament of Penance and First Holy Communion, these will take place once the Government has reduced the lock down level from 5 to 2 or 3. Once this happens, churches will be open for various ceremonies. As soon as the school has been given the dates for these ceremonies to take place, I will let you all know. Do not worry in the meantime, because the 6^th Class teacher and 2^nd Class teachers will be working away with the children involved in these ceremonies so that they are fully prepared.

On Monday, Fr Bernard held a simple Prayer Service celebrating February 1^st and Grandparents. The lovely prayer read out at the service representing Kilmacanogue National School was written by Darragh and Aron Redden.

Grandparents

Grandparents are the most amazing thing in the world and the most special thing to me: We are so blessed to have them in our lives as they share their time with us.

Grandma’s press has always something nice to eat while Grandad helps us fix our broken toys. They’re a treasure to the family and always ready to look after us while giving us hugs a plenty. They are the best present a kid could ask for and no matter if they are here on earth or up in heaven they will always be in our hearts.

I am sure that their Grandad Tommy in heaven is very proud of Darragh and Aron just as all wonderful Grandparents are proud of their Grandchildren.

Please remember that as a school community, we are here to help you in any way that we can. You are all doing brilliantly, hang on in there and keep on going, the light at the end of the tunnel is shining more brightly than ever now.

Here’s a thought for the week and one, I must admit, that I like!
