WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER APRIL 25th 2018 
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The sun was positively splitting the stones and the skies were the bluest you ever saw last Thursday when the entire school was outside doing great Irish Dancing as part of our Seachtain na Gaeilge. Everyone had a great time and the Junior Infants were fantastic. There should be some photographs displayed on the school website shortly at www.kilmacschool.ie and also on the school twitter site @kilmacanoguens.
The focus this week has been on handwriting and I have been looking at the lovely displays of handwriting done by all the children which have been posted all over the school. Neatness in handwriting is to be encouraged regularly. There will be prizes for the best efforts. The results will be announced next Thursday week May 3rd.
For the next number of Tuesdays, there will be Irish Dancing Classes in the hall from Junior Infants up to and including 4th Class. The suggested cost is €1 a lesson each week to cover the expenses of the visiting teachers.
Yoga Classes for 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th will be up and running again for the next 6 weeks starting this coming Friday 27th April. This is at the request of numerous parents and teachers and children, who saw the benefits from the last time we had the Yoga Classes with Maire Broaders. The cost will be €1 a class each week, a total of €6 which is extremely reasonable.
The ‘Breakfast Morning’ which was organised by 4th Class last Thursday April 16th, proved to be a marvellous success and I think that we may have lots more in the future! Miss Lynch, along with the class, directed by Noah Dixon, did a truly wonderful job feeding the whole school…..well practically! It was all for a very worthy cause, to help a little girl called Lucy Leahy. The entire event raised almost €600!! Well done everyone, you are all so very kind to be donating to all the various charities. People always say that the children of Kilmacanogue National School are the kindest ever, and I totally agree!
First Communion is fast approaching and 2nd Class are very busy learning their prayers and songs for their special day which will be taking place on May 19th.
Reminder that the school will be closed on Friday May 4th and Monday May 7th for May Bank Holiday. The School Calendar for next year is on the back of this letter.
And now for Miss Murray’s joke……. What did the paper say to the pencil ?……….Write on !
