    KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL

    WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER FEBRUARY 7th  2018

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

What a wonderful weekend of sport we had with a marvellous victory for the Irish Rugby Team over the strength of the French Rugby Team. Johnny Sexton saved the day……my heart was in my mouth right up until the final whistle.

And the excitement does not end there because Harry Browne from 1st Class will be one of the junior mascots for the Ireland v Italy International Rugby Game at the Aviva Stadium this coming Saturday, February 10th at 2.15pm. Harry will lead out the Irish Rugby Team with the Irish Captain Rory Best. Harry, along with his sisters Ava and Zoe, entered a Vodafone Competition and won this fabulous prize. Best of luck to Harry and the Irish Rugby Team.

Congratulations to our 3rd and 4th Classes for their wonderful singing in the Laudate Festival Concert which took place last Wednesday in the Church of the Guardian Angels, Newtownpark Avenue. There was a huge crowd there and the atmosphere was really uplifting and memorable. Thanks to Mrs Whelan and Ms Lynch and all the parents and children, you were fantastic. On Friday, the two classes were rewarded with special fun time in the school hall watching a film while sitting on cushions eating a little treat……like going to the cinema!!

This current week in Kilmacanogue National School is a very busy week called ‘Friendship Week’. Thanks to Ms Denvir, all the classes have been involved in lovely activities involving the whole school based around the important theme of ‘Friendship’. Having a good friend is so important and in life we are so lucky to be able to count on one hand those people we consider to be real, genuine friends, and not those imaginary ‘friends’ on the internet. The various activities in the school have involved making friendship bracelets, designing handprints for our friendship tree, the friendship stop sign at break time, the friendship circle similar to the Mexican wave as well as loads of board games. It is a joy to watch how the older children help the little children in all these activities……..kindness and generosity of spirit are so clearly evident in all the children of Kilmacanogue National School.

A date for the 5th and 6th Classes…..the ACCORD team will be visiting the school on February 26th. More details will follow after mid-term. Speaking of which, the school will be closed from Monday 12th February until Friday 16th February inclusive. We will see you back on Monday February 19th DV. It has been a long few weeks and I know that the children could do with a little break to get over all the coughs and colds!

And now for Miss Murray’s joke…….

What do you call a belt with a watch on it???………A waist of time!!!

    Best wishes always
