KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL

WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER FEBRUARY 28TH 2018

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The ‘Beast from the East’ has finally arrived and has caused us to close the school from today, Wednesday, until Friday inclusive! I hope everyone stays safe and warm while at the same time looking after each other and enjoying this special experience.

Thank goodness, Ireland managed to beat Wales last week before any danger of the rugby match having to be cancelled due to the snow!! Wouldn’t it wonderful if Ireland could beat Scotland on March 10th and then England on March 17th??  Here’s hoping…….

A reminder for parents that March 8th at 7.30pm, is the date and time for the Ceremony of Light for 6th Class with Confirmation itself taking place on Friday 16th March at 11am. Both lovely ceremonies will be taking place in Kilmacanogue Church, St Mochonóg.

Thanks to all the parents and children who are entering the school between 9.20am and 9.40am through the door nearest their classroom. The main door should be accessed after 9.40am because the other doors will be locked. This is for the protection of all the children. Also thanks for remembering to phone the  school in the morning before 10am letting us know if your child is absent for any reason. Written notes to the classroom teacher explaining the absence as well as notes explaining why any child should be kept in from the yard are much appreciated and a necessity.

Sorry to mention it again, but those annoying nits are back again!! Please, please check your child’s hair regularly to make sure that there are no head lice hiding there. I know that it is frustrating but checking your child’s head regularly really does help keep these unwelcome little critters at bay.

The teachers will be attending a special day dedicated to the implementation of the latest Child Protection Act which will be taking place in the school.  This is obligatory and as a result there will be no school for the children on March 9th. Apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause.

And now for Miss Murray’s joke……

What’s black and white, black and white, black and white?? ……A penguin rolling down a hill!!

Take care and stay safe and warm. See you next Monday, please God.

Niamh Murray  (Principal)
