KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL

WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER

JUNE 16th  2021

Dear Parents/Guardians and of course Boys and Girls,

Another exciting week has passed in Kilmacanogue National School since our last newsletter and so much has happened, it is very hard to know where to begin!!??

We have had an amazing amount of Sports’ Days with a huge variety for all the children including Yoga and Gymnastics and Jay Sua Muay Thia and Rounders and Hula Hoop Competition as well as the Million Step Challenge which the children surpassed by a mile with about a Million Steps reached by each class!!! INCREDIBLE!!

Congratulations to Megan Driver from 2nd Class (Mr Dunne), who won the Hula Hoop Competition against very stiff opposition. Well done Megan!! 🙂

On top of everything, we had our fabulous Sponsored Walk which everyone agreed was a resounding success when, on Tuesday 15th, the children from 1st Class up to 6th Class walked all around Rocky Valley Drive and Glencormick Road……a walk which took the guts of 1 hour and 20 minutes!! I must admit that I was wrecked afterwards but the children were still full of beans!!

We met a certain Sports’ Star along the way when Damien Duff gave apples to the children of 6th Class as well as posing for photos with them. What  a LEGEND!

As if that wasn’t enough, the Junior and Senior Infant Classes, had their own very special Sponsored Walk when they walked a designated route throughout the environs of the school including a visit to the Secret Garden where some children spotted some fairies and even heard them laughing in their fairy voices!!

And there is MORE!!…….. the Junior and Senior Infant Classes had their Teddy Bears’ Picnic after their Sponsored Walk and I believe that the Teddy Bears were very well behaved and did not eat all the goodies on offer!! Thanks to Eva Hogan our very artistic SNA who organised the Teddy Bears’ Picnic area!!

None of this could have taken place without the incredible hard wirk and support from our wonderful Parents’ Association ably led by their Chairperson Lisa Dempsey. Thank you so much ladies, we could not do it without you!!

Tomorrow 3rd Class will head off on their tour to Killruddery for Alive Outside Activities followed by 4th Class on Friday, 6th Class on Saturday and 5th Class on Tuesday!! What a week!!!

And now a few house keeping notes!

Could any outstanding Tour Payments be paid immediately?

Could all Sponsored Walk Money be paid to the school for the P/A?

Could all the pedometers be returned to the school asap?

Any money due for Administration for 2021/2022 (as in Booklists) as well as Voluntary Contribution €100 can now be paid via Aladdin on the school website www.kilmacschool.ie

All the Reports with the Booklists etc have been posted and hopefully you should have received them at this stage. If you have any query at all about your child’s report, please feel free to contact the school to chat to your child’s class teacher about it before the end of the school year June 30th.
