KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL

WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER

MARCH 24th 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians and of course Boys and Girls,

The weather is really beautiful these days and there is no doubt there will be more such weather as the days and weeks progress into summer. The boys and girls have been spending a lot of time outside enjoying the school playground areas and of course there will be lots more playing and games outside as the days get even hotter.

This coming Sunday, March 28th, will be Palm Sunday, the day Jesus entered the city of Jerusalem carried by a simple donkey and greeted by throngs of people who were waving palms and reeds and cheering: ‘Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’

To help celebrate this special day, the start of Holy week, and in preparation for Easter Sunday, Mass will be broadcast at 12 noon this Sunday March 28th by Fr Kennedy from St Mary’s Church, Enniskerry via the church webcam. Please log in at https://enniskerryparish.ie/parish-webcam/

A few parents have been enquiring about Parent/Teacher meetings. We would be delighted to host the meetings as in the past, face to face, but alas this is not possible during COVID-19 Level 5 Lock Down. BUT…….do not worry. After the Easter Holidays, the teachers will be in contact with you all to arrange meetings via phone calls, emails and/or ZOOM based on what works best for each class level.

Also, please remember that at any time you are more than welcome to contact the school and your child’s teacher to discuss his/her progress. It is always very good to keep in regular contact for any updates on your child. We are always here to help in any way we can.

I want to thank a company called THRACE SYNTHETIC PACKAGING Ltd from Clara, Co Offaly for supplying the school with 10 boxes, each containing 50 surgical masks, free gratis and for nothing!! So very much appreciated. Thank you.

Also, thanks so much to Sadhbh Whelan (from Senior Infants) whose Dad, Eamon, very kindly donated some lovely sports’ equipment to the school which will be of fantastic use to the whole school. Thanks Eamon and of course Sadhbh ????

Ms Nicole Flanagan, who has been teaching 5th Class, will be finishing her contract with the school this Friday March 26th because Ms Clara Lynch will be returning to the school after Easter to resume her teaching of 5th Class. We look forward to the return of Ms Lynch a valued member of staff.

We all also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Ms Flanagan for all her incredible hard work and dedication to 5th Class and wish her all the very best in her future career. She will be greatly missed by one and all in Kilmacanogue National School. Thanks for everything Nicole.

I wonder will the Easter Bunny visit the school????

Boys and Girls, please be on the lookout out for any stray bunny rabbits in the area eating lots of chocolate Easter eggs!!!

This coming Friday our wonderful Parents’ Association Committee have asked that the school holds a non-uniform day for €2………….so please feel free to enjoy a non-uniform day on the day before we go on our Easter Holidays! Yippeeee! ????

And so, the Easter Holidays are upon us and the school will be closing at 12 noon this coming Friday March 26th for the Classes from 1st Class up to 6th Class.

If possible, to avoid mixing of all the classes, could the parents/guardians of children in the Junior and Senior Infant Classes collect their children at 11:50am, this is just 10 minutes before the rest of the school?

School will re-open after Easter on Monday April 12th.

THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE for your understanding and support in everything the school has done during the past year in our effort to keep COVID out of the school and to help keep all the adults and children safe and free from any harm. You have been AMAZING!

WE WISH YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY EASTER

And now for Miss Murray’s Easter jokes!!

What is a bunny’s favourite dance?…….The bunny hop!

What do you call a bunny who tells jokes?…….A funny bunny!

What kind of books do bunnies read? ……The ones with HOPPY endings!

Best wishes always,

Niamh ????
