KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL

WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER MAY 8th 2019

 Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope that you all had an enjoyable May Bank Holiday. This Summer term is really whizzing past and the school tours will be starting very soon. Today 3rd and 4th Classes were involved in a Tug of War Competition in Blessington and all the children really enjoyed themsleves. Thanks to Cathy O’Toole for training the children for this event.

As mentioned last week, the standardised tests will be administered over the next few weeks. It is very important that all the children do these tests and that their high level of attendance at school be maintained during this time.

Regarding the level of attendance at school…..well done to all the children, you are all very good for coming to school regularly and believe it or not, there are several children who have maintained 100% record of attendance from Junior Infants up to the Senior Classes!!

Remember our school motto: If it’s not nice, don’t do it and if it’s not nice don’t say it. Sometimes it is good to remind ourselves of this motto every now and again especially as we come towards the end of the school year when things are getting very busy and there are lots of different activities going on around us at school.

Well done to all the children, who have been making a great effort to wear their correct school uniform throughout the year. I know that it is not always easy, but your effort is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

For health and safety reasons, the class teachers will be walking their classes down to the Church car park every day at 3pm, going home time. This will help reduce any concerns some parents may have regarding unacceptable behaviour such as teasing or fighting. Please keep the school informed if there is anything worrying you. If we don’t know, we can’t help.

First Holy Communion will be taking place next Saturday May 18th and 2nd Class are very busy in the final stages of their preparations for this lovely ceremony.

The school will be closed for 3 days during May:

Friday    May 24th European Elections;

Monday May 27th Staff Planning Day based on the New Language Curriculum.

Friday    May 31st  and Monday 3rd June Bank Holiday

And now for Miss Murray’s joke.

What do you call an underwater spy?……..James Pond!!!
