KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL
WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER APRIL 10th 2019
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Hard to believe it but the Easter Holidays are upon us and school will close this coming Friday at noon and will re-open on Monday April 29th. We have had an incredibly busy term and I know that the children and the teachers deserve a well earned rest.
We had a fantastic day with our 6th Class boys and girls when the young people from Spain who are studying English at the Language Academy of Ireland, Bray, came to visit the school today. There were quizzes and great chat and competitions as well as project displays in evidence in the school hall. The boys and girls of 6th Class showed them GAA skills as well as singing as Gaeilge. We had a wonderful demonstration of Irish Dancing from Megan Brown and John McElhinney both from 4th Class and the Spanish students and their teachers were rightly impressed. Friendships have been made and we all look forward to welcoming our Spanish visitors back to Kilmacanogue National School. Bienvenidas.
This Friday, there will be a cake sale in the school hall. The smell of sugar and spice will be wafting all over the school! There will also be a Crazy Hair/Hat day organised by Isobel Bownes in 4th Class and the contribution of €2 for this will go towards the Gavin Glynn Foundation to help sick children. Isobel is a great girl and she will be cutting her hair in May for the Rapunzel Foundation which helps children with hair loss due to illness.
Unfortunately, those pesky critters called NITS or HEAD LICE, have made an unwelcome return visit to our school. Please check your child’s hair regularly and wash with the correct shampoo. It is unpleasant but badly needs to be done.
You will notice the beautiful pencil drawing in this newsletter done by Evan Wylie in 6th Class. He is so very talented. We may have another Van Gogh in Kilmacanogue National School!!
Please read the information at the back of this newsletter from the Parents’ Association.
I WISH YOU ALL A WONDERFULLY HAPPY EASTER.
And finally, Miss Murray’s joke.
What do you call a funny chicken? ……..A comedi-HEN!!
