KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL
WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER DECEMBER 12th 2018
Dear Parents/Guardians,
It’s that time of the year when the children know Christmas is just around the corner and that the big man in Red will be paying them a visit! We had a lovely assembly on Monday when the children learned a few different ways of saying Merry Christmas: Irish, Nollaig Shona duit: German, Frohe Weihnachten: Italian, Buon Natale: Spanish, Feliz Navidad and French, Joyeux Noël. The children are now fluent in six languages!!
As we begin the second week of Advent we also learned a few phrases and words ‘as Gaeilge’ telling us all about the real meaning of Christmas, the birth of the baby Jesus: An Chéad Nollaig: Beithil: Mainséar: Stábla: Muire: Iósaf: An Leanbh Íosa.
Thanks to everyone who was involved in helping 4th Class and Miss Lynch with their fundraising for Focus Ireland last week. The smell of home cooking and rashers and sausages and eggs and waffles was wafting through the school…….some children thought that it was the very best day ever in school!! I cannot promise that we will have an ‘Irish Breakfast’ everyday!! The amount raised was €300. Well done and thank you everyone. The children of Kilmacanogue National School are always so very kind.
Some of you may have noticed that the external classroom doors throughout the school have been painted blue. I have also managed to get some of the internal classroom doors of the toilets painted red. I hope to get them all finished shortly. It makes such a difference and freshens up the beautiful school we have. The children are delighted and love seeing all the changes taking place throughout the school.
If you are thinking about going to a Christmas Concert on Saturday 15th or Sunday 16th December in St Mary’s Church Enniskerry at 7pm, Enniskerry Concert Choir will be presenting ‘Joy to the World’ featuring myself as soprano. As last year, some of the funds will be donated to Kilmacanogue National School. Tickets are available in the school and at the parish offices of Enniskerry and Kilmacanogue.
Poor Miss Murray has had a very difficult time this week! The Elf on the Shelf who sleeps in a Hat in her office, has been disappearing out of her office regularly! He even tried to hack in to her computer and to send messages to all the parents/guardians telling them that the school was closed for all of December! The children have been warned to keep on the look-out for him and to report back to me!
Here are the times of the Christmas Plays/Services:
Tuesday 18th December: 11:30am First Class (in the school hall)
Tuesday 18th December: 1:30pm Second Class (in the school hall)
