KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL

WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER JANUARY 24TH 2018

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This has been a very busy week so far with the majority of Parent/Teacher meetings taking place. I have been hearing great reports and feedback from all the teachers regarding the good news which they have been telling parents about their children’s work and behaviour. As I always say, when school and home are singing off the same hymn sheet, the greatest beneficiaries are the children. Keep up the good work and thank you for all your support in this regard.

The school hall is filled with various gymnastic equipment these days, and all the children are enjoying climbing, crawling, jumping, rolling, sliding, balancing and swinging on all the equipment. I think that there are a lot of budding gymnasts in Kilmacanogue National School, especially in our junior classes!

School doors open officially at 9.20am. It is very important that the children go to the correct door for their class. From 9.40am, all doors will be closed with only the main door being available for access. This is all done with the safety of the children in mind. Along with this, a new security system has been added to the main door of the school. A keypad has been attached to the right hand side of the door. To gain entry, simply press the keypad and the secretary or myself will release the lock. To exit the school, simply press the release button on the left of the inside door.

Last week, 3rd and 4th Classes rehearsed in the Church of the Guardian Angels, Newtownpark, Blackrock for their upcoming Laudate Concert which will take place in the same venue next Wednesday, January 31st at 7pm. I may be biased, but in my opinion, the children of Kilmacanogue National School were the best singers and the best behaved……I was very proud of each and every one of them. I know that they will be even better on the night of the concert.

Dear Parents/Guardians, if your child is absent or will be late, please could you let the school know by phoning the office before 10.00am. When your child does return to school, please have a note for the teacher explaining the absence. This is very important and necessary for the smooth running of the school as well as maintaining school records. Also, if you want your child to stay in from the yard, please have a note for the teacher stating this and giving the reason because sometimes children say that they have been told to stay in from the yard by their parents/guardians when the opposite is the case. Thank you for your understanding in these matters.

And now for a silly joke……What do elves learn in school?………The elf-abet!!!

It is definitely time for me to go after that joke!!!

Best wishes always,

Niamh Murray  (Principal)
