KILMACANOGUE NATIONAL SCHOOL
WEDNESDAY NEWSLETTER DECEMBER 13th
Dear Parents and Guardians,
What an exciting few days we have had during the past week with all the colours of the rainbow being used by the weathermen and women to warn us of bad weather! The snow came to some parts of Wicklow and looked so beautiful on the mountains but our lovely school missed out on it, although there was some frost and ice on our shiny new pathway!
The Christmas decorations are all over the school with not just one Christmas tree, but three!! The Elf on the shelf in my office has been keeping a very close eye on things especially on me, Miss Murray……I must behave myself or ‘You know who’ will learn about any bad behaviour from the Elf!! As I said in last week’s letter, there are loads of fun activities going on in the school with surprises on the way. Don’t forget about ‘Wear a Christmas Jumper’ Fundraising Day for Focus Ireland which will take place this Friday 15th December and is organised by Ms Lynch and her 4th Class. A small donation on the day of €2 would be much appreciated.
There are now just three days to go until the fundraising Christmas Concerts in St. Mary’s Church, Enniskerry, which will take place on December 16th and 17th at 7pm. There are only a few tickets left available from the school office. It would be great to have a full house because the funds raised on the evening of December 16th will come directly to Kilmacanogue National School. If you can’t come along on Saturday, please do come along on Sunday. Mulled wine and mince pies will also be on hand! Anyone who could help on the night by way of selling raffle tickets or stewarding would be most gratefully appreciated. I know that this is an incredibly busy time of the year for everyone but I am delighted to be able to help organise these concerts and to donate my time and my professional singing fees for the good of Kilmacanogue National School. Hopefully, several thousand euro will be raised on the night.
A little reminder to parents/guardians….please do not give ANY FOOD at all which contains any traces of NUT to your children. We have a number of children in the school with severe nut allergies. Thank you for your understanding and support. Also, no jewellery is be worn in school such as rings or bracelets to avoid all possible injury…..earrings are already banned. Once again, thank you for your support in this.
Our annual Christmas Carol Concert will take place tomorrow night, December 14th at 7.30 pm in Kilmacanogue Parish Church, presented by Ms Denvir’s 5th Class. All are welcome. The Concert should last about 45 minutes followed by some lovely Christmas treats and all things nice in the school hall.
Check out the times on the other side of this newsletter for the various performances taking place next week presented by all the classes. Imagine, next week, will be our very last Wednesday Newsletter of 2017!! Don’t forget that school closes December 22nd at 12 noon.
With best wishes always
Niamh Murray (Principal)
